Hi,

Why does all (I presume, most Ive been to anyway) stations on the northern
line (and the wirral?) have electronic displays telling you when the next
train is arriving and if it is delayed? I use Huyton train station (owned by
fnw) every day for work and college and it annoys the bugger out of me not
knowing if the train is late, I recently discovered finding out using my
mobile but anyhow....whenever a train is late its hardly ever announced over
the loud speaker and even when it is, its about 10-15 mins after its due
(using WAP is more up to date!) and usually if its the ticket office guy you
cant hear his muffled rushed voice.

Is it First North Westerns responbability if they want to install
electronic displays or is it merseyrail? Come on, we see Merseyrail branded
diesal (sp) trains and Merseyrail logos and posters dotted all over the
station so why do we have to be different to the northern line?

Anyone know if this is currently being considered or know what channels I
could take to get my suggestion accross?

Thanks,

I would hardly say all the stations on the Northern line!! They are
installed at the Liverpool stations and the interchange stations. Also they
are installed at Seaforth and Kirkdale (I think). Actually come to think of
it, they are currently being installed at Hillside, Freshfield and Formby,
Im not sure about any others. Hmmm, maybe it is becoming all of the
Northern Line!

I understand it is planned, long-term, for them to be installed at all
stations on the 3rd rail system.

Chester is a listed station, hence it still has analogue clocks,so would that
sort of thing be allowed? Would be nice though.

Come to think of it.be nice if *any* clock at Chester worked and wasnt
covered by a bin bag!!

Chester already has CRTs, so I dont see why not. That said, whatd be
the point when you could just interlock the regular CRT PIS with the
running database?
