URN has yet to issue Client Instructions to confirm the agreed
implementation of the increased substation areas

required by EDF, and cooling systems for EDF equipment. RLE continue to seek
URNs confirming instruction to

implement enhancement of fire resistance within EDF substations.

A technical review is ongoing of the Barlow trainshed arch and tie structure
and its ability to sustain the loadings

through the construction sequence and then the detailing of the final tie-in
of the arch supports to the new concrete

deck slab. Further analysis is also underway into the capacity of the
existing cast iron columns supporting the

platform deck. A major concern has emerged that bearings may have to be
introduced to avoid induced bending

stresses in the columns due to horizontal deck movements. This urgently
needs to be resolved.

Receipt of final approval from LUL to the West Side Building piles adjacent
to the Northern Line tunnels is now

urgently required, to avoid delay to work on site. See Section 3.2

Richard, sorry to pick fault, as I realise that you have posted this with
the best of intentions from elsewhere, but when using acronyms/initials it
would be useful (and is the usual convention) for the benefit of the less
railway literate to spell out the full name (followed by the acronym or
initials that are used subsequently) the the first time that it is/they are
used. Even with some railway knowledge I had to scratch my head for a while
to remember what EDF and RLE stood for, although URN wasnt a problem (for
me, at least!).
