I dont know if you read Backtrack magazine, but on page 190 of the
March edition was a small advert for a Mk1 coach that has been
converted into self catering holiday accommodation at Ł500 a week.

I have just returned from a week in this carriage, and all I can say
is that it was superb and can recommend it to anyone who would like a
holiday in the Scarborough area. The restoration has been done to an
excellent standard, and while the first 3 compartments of the SK have
been removed to provide a large lounge, the carriage retains most of
the other compartments, which have been converted into showers,
kitchens and bedrooms.

The carriage is located on the site of Cloughton Station, next to the
old platform and goods shed. The station building is now an excellent
tea room, and the track of the line from Whitby to Scarborough is a
cycle/footpath throughout.

I must say that I have no connection with the owners whatsoever, and
have no financial interest in the carriage in any way, but I just
thought I would help someone who has gone to a great deal of work to
restore a Mk1 coach, so that it can be enjoyed by as many people as
possible in a wonderfully peaceful setting.

I hope that I will be allowed to list the website as

http://www.cloughtonstation.co.uk

The rest is up to you.

In case anyone is thinking of staying there in the winter, I guess one
should ask if it is fitted with steam heating or ETH?
