Replace them with something better
E.g. new units and/or loco hauled stock with mk2s displaces 156s & 158s
from their current services. The replaced 156/158 take over 142/150
services, allowing some of these unpopular units to be scrapped. Of
cause this is expensive so it will never happen and the worst thing on
rails (142s) will be going strong for many years to come!


Expected to last until 2015 at least - over 90% of BR stock (that was
far better than 142s for their purposes) has/will be replaced by
sheds/voyagers/pendolinos/turbos + more
